Amazon Influencer Program: Requirements and Pay in 2026.
No published follower minimum, three approved videos, and product-page rates cut in spring 2026: what Amazon checks, what a sale pays and when it pays out.
Scroll past the photos on a popular Amazon product page and you'll often reach a row of short videos: someone unboxing the same blender on their own counter and telling you what they think of it. Some of those videos come from the brand. Others come from creators in the Amazon Influencer Program, who earn a commission when a viewer watches and then buys.
The program is an add-on to Amazon Associates, Amazon's affiliate program, for people with a social media following.1 Approved creators get a storefront on Amazon and earn on sales from their own links. Once a few of their videos pass review, they can also earn from the videos Amazon shows on product pages, which Amazon calls onsite commissions. That second part changed in spring 2026. A product-page video now earns only when the buyer picks the exact product in it, and at lower rates in almost every category. A lot of the advice online predates the change, so we checked every rule and rate below against Amazon's own pages in October 2026.
Amazon Influencer Program requirements
Amazon doesn't publish a follower minimum. Its policy says influencers must meet quality and quantity thresholds without saying what they are, and its September 2026 explainer says it weighs content quality, engagement rate and follower count.23 What Amazon does spell out:
| Requirement | What Amazon says |
|---|---|
| A social account | YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok on the sign-up page. Amazon's explainer and its storefront info page also list Pinterest435 |
| Account type | Instagram and Facebook applicants need a business account4 |
| Your data | You give Amazon access to data about your social media presence2 |
| Your niche | Any content category can take part3 |
| Your country | 21 Amazon sites run the program, and you apply on each one separately36 |
Two numbers you'll see quoted come from Amazon Associates, not the influencer program. Associates reviews an application once it has three qualifying sales within 180 days, and expects social pages to have a substantial organic following, in most cases at least 500.7 Neither rule appears in the influencer program's terms.
Is it hard to get accepted? It's hard to predict. Creators on Reddit describe both ends: one applicant with under 500 followers was accepted after a single video reached 2,500 views, while another, with more than 150,000 followers on TikTok, reports repeated rejections.8 Some get a decision the moment they apply; one applicant tried several times a day for months before getting in.9 If you're told you're not eligible, check the basics Amazon lists: a business account on Instagram or Facebook, an account that belongs to a creator rather than a brand or media company, and engagement on the account you connect.43 Amazon encourages anyone turned down to reapply later, and it doesn't publish a waiting period.3
How to become an Amazon influencer, step by step
- Pick the account you'll apply with. Choose the one with the most engaged audience, since engagement is part of what Amazon weighs. On Instagram or Facebook, switch it to a business account first.43
- Apply at amazon.com/influencers. Sign in with your Amazon account and connect the social account. If you're already an Amazon Associate, you can register with your existing account and Store ID.10
- Set up your storefront and payment details. Approval gives you a page at amazon.com/shop/ plus your handle, where you can post Idea Lists (themed lists of products you recommend), photos and videos.111 Complete the tax interview, Amazon's online tax questionnaire, and add a payment method now. Amazon won't pay you without them.12
- Upload three videos that follow the guidelines. Upload on a computer through Creator Hub, Amazon's desktop upload tool, or from your storefront on your phone.1314 Moderation usually takes two business days.15 The next section covers what gets videos rejected, and Amazon's free Creator University has video tutorials on the program.3
- Sign up for onsite commissions. Amazon's FAQ says you can once at least three of your videos meet its guidelines. One older help page still says 10, and creators who've been in the program for years say three has been the number since around 2021.151316
- Find your onsite Store ID. Your Store ID is the tag in your links that credits sales to you, and Amazon creates a second one just for product-page earnings. It sits at the top right of Associates Central, the dashboard where your earnings reports live, and may start with
onamz. It needs its own tax and payment details, because they aren't copied over from your main ID.17 Keep using your main ID in your own links. Product-page sales show up under the onsite one, which is easy to miss: a creator who saw zero commissions after 60 videos switched the report to the onsite ID and found $12.82.18
Getting videos past moderation
Every video goes through Amazon's moderation before it appears anywhere, and Amazon names three reasons behind most rejections:19
- Prices and deals. Leave out prices, discounts and time-limited offers. Amazon suggests broad terms instead, like best under $50.
- Personal information. No phone numbers or other contact details,20 and watch the background: Amazon flags the shipping label in an unboxing and a license plate in the shot. One creator covers every label and barcode with painter's tape before filming.21
- Medical or unsupported claims. Don't say a product is healthy or safe, or that it treats anything.
The rest of the guidelines are easy to trip over too:20
- Don't ask viewers to follow, subscribe or comment, and don't point them anywhere off Amazon, your own social accounts included.
- Tag only the products clearly shown in the video, up to 10 per video.15
- Aim for at least 30 seconds, which Amazon recommends for a video to be placed.
- Don't copy another creator's video or upload the same video twice. Reposting your own TikTok, Instagram or YouTube videos is encouraged, but cut any "follow for more" ending first.22
- Skip background music. Amazon's dos and don'ts advise against it.22
- A gifted product is fine to feature, as long as the video says it was gifted.
Amazon's April 2026 policy update also says that content built on someone else's material has to add significant commentary or analysis, or transform it.223 For the shooting itself, filming a product video on your phone covers the basics.
Approved isn't the same as shown
An approved video lands in your storefront. Whether it reaches a product page is up to Amazon: if you're eligible, Amazon says it may select content from your storefront, and it decides where videos go.1124 A creator with about 1,750 videos wrote in January 2025 that about 1,000 of them were getting no views at all, or one to three a month.25
You can't control placement, but you can avoid working against it. Publish in the country where you want to earn, because onsite earnings only count in the country where the content is published.11 Make each video at least 30 seconds long.20 And check how many creator videos a product already has before you film it. Two creators' rules of thumb, both from 2025: if your videos are average, aim for products with fewer than five creator videos on the page, and look for pricier products with only one or two.26 Film products you've actually used, too, so you have something to say that the listing doesn't.
What a sale pays since the 2026 changes
The rate depends on how the buyer reached the product.
Through your own link or storefront, you earn Amazon's standard commission: 4.5% on kitchen products, 4% on clothing, 3% on home, pet, beauty and baby products and toys, 10% on luxury beauty, 1% on health and personal care, and 4% on anything without a named rate.27 A click counts for 24 hours, and it covers everything else the person buys in that time, not only the product you recommended. Items they add to their cart within those 24 hours still count if the order is placed before the cart expires, usually within 90 days.283
Through a video Amazon shows on a product page, you earn the onsite rate. Since April 14, 2026, it pays only on purchases of the same ASIN variant, meaning the exact version of the product featured in your video.2329 Before that date, a purchase of anything in the same product category counted. As before, a purchase only counts toward your video once the viewer has watched it for a minimum time, which Amazon sets and doesn't publish.
The onsite rates fell as well. Compare Amazon's onsite rate page as archived in March 2026 with the same page by June, and almost every category dropped. The March rates now apply only to Creator Ads, which top creators can opt into.303
| Category | Your own link | Product-page video, March 2026 | Product-page video now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kitchen | 4.5% | 2.25% | 1.25% |
| Home | 3% | 4% | 3% |
| Pet products | 3% | 4% | 3% |
| Beauty | 3% | 3% | 2% |
| Baby products | 3% | 2.25% | 0.5% |
| Toys | 3% | 1.5% | 0.5% |
| Clothing | 4% | 2% | 1% |
| Health and personal care | 1% | 2.25% | 1.25% |
| Most other categories | 4% | 2% | 1% |
At today's rates, your own link pays more than a product-page video in six of these nine rows, the same in two, and less only in health and personal care. The program now pays far better for buyers you bring than for buyers Amazon brings to your videos.
On a $25 kitchen gadget, that's $1.13 a sale through your own link and 31 cents through a product-page video, down from 56 cents in March. Earning $100 in a month from that product would take about 89 sales through your link, or 320 through product pages.
The table also tells you what to film. Home, furniture and pet products pay 3% on product pages, six times the 0.5% on toys, baby products and books.29 Price matters because the rate is a percentage: at 3%, one sale of a $120 lamp pays $3.60, and a $12 one pays 36 cents. And tag the exact variant you show, since it's now the only one that pays.
Keep three caveats in mind. These are amazon.com's published rates, and other Amazon sites set their own (the UK's pays 5% on home and kitchen products through your own link).31 Amazon pays whatever rate your own account lists, so check it before you plan around a number.2 And commission is a share of what Amazon collects for the item, not counting shipping, taxes and similar charges.2
The other ways the program pays
| Way to earn | How it pays | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Your links and storefront | Standard commission on what people buy | Anyone approved, as long as people click |
| Product-page videos | Onsite commission on the exact product | Creators with three approved videos |
| Creator Connections | Brands add a bonus commission on sales, pay for traffic to sponsored products, or pay a flat fee for sponsored posts they can use in ads3 | Approved creators who opt into a campaign |
| Amazon Live | Commission on products in your livestreams | Influencers only, through the Amazon Live Creator app32 |
| Bounties | A fixed amount when someone signs up for a service, such as $12 for a Prime free trial27 | Anyone approved |
| Creator Rewards | A monthly bonus on top of commission when you hit sales targets | Eligible creators only3 |
| Creator Ads | Your content in Amazon's social media ads, at higher onsite rates | Top creators who opt in329 |
| Product tags on YouTube, Pinterest and Meta | Commission on Amazon products you tag in posts and videos there | Eligible creators3 |
Creator Connections can matter more than product-page videos. One creator who joined in May 2026 and now has 150 to 200 videos up says most of their money comes through it.33 Campaigns sit under the Promotion tab in Associates Central, and you opt into the ones you want.34 Bonus-commission campaigns pay only when something sells, so if a brand wants a video made to its own brief on those terms, that's the commission-only deal worth countering with a fee.
How much do Amazon influencers make?
Going by creators' own reports since April 2026: tens of dollars a month at the start, a few hundred dollars a month once you have a few hundred videos up, and $1,000-plus months mostly for creators with several hundred videos, pricier products or Creator Connections campaigns. None of it is a guarantee.
Amazon publishes no typical figure. Its explainer says earnings vary with how often creators post, how engaged their audience is and what they recommend. Its one example is Amanda Heiser, who joined in 2020 and earned $7 in her first month. By 2023 she matched her full-time corporate income in a single month and left her job.3 That's Amazon's showcase story, and it comes from before the 2026 changes.
The reports below come from r/Amazon_Influencer. It's a self-selected sample, since people tend to post when things go very well or very badly, so read it as a range, not an average. All are from after the April 2026 changes:3335
| Reported | What the creator said | Their setup |
|---|---|---|
| September 2026 | About $5 from their first three videos | About two weeks after the videos were approved |
| September 2026 | About $20, then $100, then $240 in their first three full months | Joined May 2026; 150 to 200 videos up by September; mostly Creator Connections |
| September 2026 | A steady $600 to $800 a month | About 350 videos since August 2025 |
| August 2026 | $1,200 to $1,500 a month | 450 videos |
Creators who were earning before April describe steep drops. One reported a 60% drop in income, and another said their $200-to-$300 days became $20-to-$30 days.36 So when a guide or video quotes monthly figures, check when they were earned. Product-page earnings from 2025 or earlier came from higher rates and a broader rule about which purchases counted.
When the money arrives
Amazon pays about 60 days after the end of the month you earned it in, so July's earnings arrive near the end of September.37 In the US, the minimum is $10 for direct deposit or an Amazon gift card, and $100 for a check, which carries a $15 fee.37 In the UK, the minimum is £25.38
Before the first payment, you need a completed tax interview. If you live outside the US and join through amazon.com, Amazon can withhold up to 30% of what you earn unless you submit a W-8BEN form that claims a tax treaty rate.12 For what to set aside, see how creator income is taxed.
Is the Amazon Influencer Program worth it?
It is if people already buy what you recommend, and it can be if you want low-cost practice with product videos and can live with slow, small income at first. Skip it if you're mainly after free products or need the money this quarter.
An audience that clicks is where the program pays best. Your own links and storefront earn 3% to 4.5% in most categories product videos cover, on everything a person buys within 24 hours of the click. If links and a storefront are all you want, Amazon Associates now offers both, with the storefront available once you've made three sales. What the influencer program adds is product-page videos and Amazon Live.1432
If you're starting from zero, product-page videos are the one part that doesn't depend on an audience once you're approved. Treat them as practice with some income attached: the rates are low, placement is Amazon's call, and the reports above suggest months of steady uploading before the money adds up.
Being paid for the video itself is a different deal. A brand that wants a product video to run on its listing or in its ads pays a set fee for the video, whether or not it ever sells a unit. On Modliflex, the brand pays for the video when it places the order, so you earn even if no product page ever shows it. And the product videos you make for Amazon can go straight into your portfolio.
Amazon Influencer Program questions
Do Amazon influencers get free stuff?
Not from Amazon. The program pays commission and doesn't ship products. Amazon's free-product program is Vine, which is invitation-only and separate from this one;39 free products to review covers it. Brands sometimes send products to influencers directly, and Amazon's video rules allow gifted products as long as you say so in the video.20 One creator who spent their second month chasing as many free products as possible concluded three months in that the program wasn't worth it financially for them.40
Can you become an Amazon influencer without social media?
No. The application runs through a social account. Without one, the route is Amazon Associates, which also accepts websites and apps you own. Its reviewers look for a site with substantial original content, about 10 posts as a rule of thumb, and they review it only after your links have made three qualifying sales within 180 days.741
Can you join from the UK or Europe?
Yes, if your country's Amazon site runs the program. It runs in 21 countries, among them the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Belgium and Australia (not New Zealand), and you apply and build a storefront in each country separately.36 Product-page earnings only count where the content is published, and each site sets its own rates.1131 Creators in Europe report that Creator Connections campaigns aren't available to them.42
Can you upload videos you made for a brand?
Only if you still hold the rights to them. Amazon's terms have you confirm that you own or control the rights to what you post, and they give Amazon a broad license to use it. Videos that infringe someone else's rights get rejected.4320 A video a brand paid you for, with rights that went to the brand, isn't yours to upload unless your agreement says so. Check it first, and see how usage rights work if the agreement is unclear.
Is the Amazon Influencer Program the same as Amazon Associates?
It's an extension of it. Influencers get the same reporting tools as Associates, plus a storefront with a short web address that's easy to say out loud.1 Since April 2026, ordinary Associates can get a storefront too, once they've made three sales in the past 180 days.2314 What stays with the influencer program is earning from videos on product pages, which needs a dedicated Store ID, and livestreaming through Amazon Live.232
Do you have to disclose Amazon links?
Yes. Amazon requires the statement "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" tied to your account, plus a clear label near each link, such as (paid link), #ad or #CommissionsEarned.44 If a brand also pays you, label the post as an ad.2 The disclosure guide covers where the label goes in a video.
