TikTok Creator Marketplace: None, 1K or 10K Followers?

TikTok's own pages give all three answers. Which one applies, how to join TikTok One from the app, and what you agree to when a brand sends an offer.

October 2, 2026

How many followers do you need for TikTok Creator Marketplace? Ask TikTok and you'll get three answers. One of its help pages lists no follower count at all for signing up. Another puts the bar at 1,000 followers for taking part in brand projects. A third says you need 10,000 before you can join.

All three pages are live as of October 2026, and the two newer ones agree. Their sign-up requirements don't mention followers at all: be 18 or older, live in a country where TikTok One has launched, and follow TikTok's Community Guidelines and Branded Content Policy. The 1,000-follower floor applies to brand projects.12

The 10,000 figure sits on an older FAQ whose wording hasn't changed since at least mid-2025,3 and it's the number most guides still quote.

What TikTok Creator Marketplace is now

TikTok announced TikTok One in May 2024 as one place for brands to find creators, production partners and insights, with Creator Marketplace inside it.4 The switch reached creators the following spring. After March 10, 2025, no new campaigns went up on the old Creator Marketplace.5

The name stuck around, though. In the TikTok app, the way into TikTok One is still labeled Creator Marketplace. It lives in TikTok Studio, and tapping it takes you straight into TikTok One.6 Brands log in on the web and see TikTok One; you see Creator Marketplace. Same place.

So what is a creator marketplace on TikTok? It's where brands search for creators and invite them to paid projects, and where creators apply to the open ones.2 TikTok runs four kinds of project there:7

  • Creator Marketing pays a flat fee for a custom video.
  • Branded Buzz is a themed campaign you post to with a hashtag, paid from a shared cash pool based on performance.
  • Spark Opportunity pays you when a brand runs one of your existing videos as a Spark Ad.
  • TikTok Creative Challenge pays a growing commission, based on the brand's ad spend, for videos built to perform as ads.

TikTok Creator Marketplace requirements, by what you want to do

Most of the confusion clears up once you separate getting in from getting paid. Here's what TikTok asks at each step, next to the two programs people most often mix up with it.

What you want to doFollower minimumOther requirementsWhat pays
Sign up for TikTok One (Creator Marketplace)None listed18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), in a country where TikTok One has launched, following the Community Guidelines and Branded Content Policy16Nothing yet. Signing up gets you a profile brands can find

That leaves the 10,000 figure. It comes from TikTok's general Help Center, in an FAQ that also asks for 1,000 post views and 3 posts in the last 30 days, and notes that the follower requirement may differ by region. The Internet Archive's copy of that page from June 2025 reads the same, word for word.3 The creator articles in TikTok's Business Help Center were updated as recently as July 2026 and list no follower count for signing up. Some guides also add a rule about 100,000 likes in 28 days, which none of the TikTok pages we checked mention.

Nobody outside TikTok can see which rule the app applies to your account, including us. So check for yourself (the steps are in the next section), and if the app lets you in, you're in.

Your country can matter more than your follower count. TikTok lists 26 places where TikTok One is available: the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and the UAE.12 New Zealand isn't on it, and only four EU countries are. Branded posts and sponsored posts (more on those below) also have separate region lists, so check which kind a project uses before you apply.6

How to get into TikTok Creator Marketplace

Signing up happens inside the TikTok app. TikTok lists four ways in:1

  1. Tap the search icon, search "TikTok One," and tap the TikTok One Creator Marketplace result.
  2. Tap your profile, then TikTok Studio, then Creator Marketplace.
  3. Use the sign-up link or QR code on TikTok's help page.
  4. Join through an invitation link from your agency, if you have one.

Once you're in, fill in your profile: starting rates, contact details, languages and industries.1 Take care with the rate, because advertisers and agencies can see it, along with your email and languages. TikTok also says listing every language you speak makes you easier to find.6

Then sort out payment before anyone owes you money. In Creator Marketplace, tap Rewards to open the Rewards Center, pick your currency, add tax information if your country requires it, and add a bank account. TikTok reviews the details before approving them. The usual reasons they bounce: an unreadable ID document, a black-and-white photocopy, or an address that doesn't match your ID.13

Why don't I have Creator Marketplace on TikTok?

If it isn't showing up, work down this list:

  • Your country isn't on TikTok's list. Check the 26 places above. If you're in New Zealand or most of the EU, TikTok One isn't available where you are.
  • You're under the age limit. You need to be 18, or the age of majority where you live.6
  • You're on a Business Account. TikTok's FAQ says TikTok One is only available in a web browser for Business Accounts,3 so open it in a browser instead.
  • It's buried in a menu. In TikTok Studio it can sit in the Monetization tab, where you may need to scroll or tap View all. Searching "TikTok One" is quicker.31
  • Your account isn't in good standing. TikTok's FAQ asks for an account with no history of repeated Community Guidelines violations.3
  • You might be under the older activity bar. That same FAQ still lists 3 posts and 1,000 post views in the last 30 days.3 If nothing above fits, clear both numbers and check again.

How brand projects find you

A project reaches you one of three ways:2

  • Direct invitation. A brand picks you and sends an offer. It arrives in your Inbox under Monetization notifications. Open it, tap I'm interested, and you'll see the payment details: Accept, or Negotiate if the offer doesn't work for you.
  • Open application. Open the Explore tab, pick a project, and tap Apply. Some ask a few screening questions first. Either the brand or TikTok picks who gets in. Some projects accept you automatically, and full ones can have a waitlist.
  • Invite link. A brand sends a link straight to its project, sometimes to use a video already on your page. These run on offline pricing and payment, and the link expires if you don't answer within 7 days.

Invitations can land in your System notifications and Monetization inboxes, on the TikTok One homepage, and by email, so turn notifications on for all of them.6 There's also a weekly cap on applications, which rises as you complete projects with videos that perform well,2 so spend your first applications on projects that fit what you already film, and deliver them on time. And joining doesn't make every project open to you: each brand adds its own requirements on top of the 1,000 floor, so you won't qualify for every one.2

Some invites are fake. TikTok's own checklist for invite links: the sender should be a known brand contact or use an official company email, the link domain should start with tiktok.com, and you should never enter bank passwords, full card details or one-time passwords on an invite page.2 For the tricks that show up outside TikTok, see how to spot a fake brand deal.

On the brand side, the search tools filter by country, follower count, language and audience, plus two performance numbers: median video views and engagement rate. Your profile also shows brands a collaboration evaluation score, built from the quality and reach of your recent content, how active you are on TikTok One, and how your published videos performed.14 One viral video barely moves a median, so steady posting counts for more than a lucky hit. TikTok's creator advice says much the same: "Follower count matters, but niche expertise and posting consistent high quality often matter more."15 For the portfolio side of that, see what brands look for when they browse creators.

One more setting: in the Spark Opportunity Program, you can switch on "Allow brands to use your posts" (TikTok Studio, then Creator Marketplace, Profile, Settings). It lets any brand you've mentioned boost those posts as Spark Ads without asking first. You're paid on how the ad performs rather than a fee agreed in advance, nothing arrives unless a brand actually promotes the post, and you can switch it off any time.12 Before you turn it on, read up on how Spark Ads work for creators.

What you're agreeing to when you accept

For flat-fee projects priced inside TikTok One, you trade some control for protection. TikTok holds the brand's money and guarantees a minimum payout if a project you've agreed to is cancelled on you (more on that below). In return, the ad license comes folded into your fee, and the brand decides when the video goes live.

Where the video goes. A project is either a branded post or a sponsored post. A branded post goes up on the brand's business account, where the brand can run it as a Spark Ad, and it doesn't touch your personal account. A sponsored post goes out from your own account, tagged "Sponsored." Either kind can be set to skip your profile, so it shows in the For You feed without sitting on your grid.6

Who signs off. After TikTok's own review, the brand can send up to 5 edit requests. Then the brand, not you, hits publish. When the video goes out on your account, TikTok's guide for brands says the brand can post it right away or schedule it.16

How long it runs as an ad. The brand picks an ad authorization period when it sets up the project,16 so look for it in the project details. Branded Buzz videos can run as Spark Ads for up to 180 days, and using them anywhere off TikTok needs a separate agreement.8

The license. If you live in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Israel, the license on a project video lasts 2 years from the day you submit it, unless the project's requirements say otherwise.17 Everywhere else, including the US, it lasts as long as you keep the video available through TikTok's commercial products. That US and rest-of-world license covers ads on other apps through TikTok-affiliated ad networks and the use of your name and likeness to credit you as the creator, and those terms say it's already included in your payment.18 If you'd normally charge extra for that kind of usage, build it into your rate before you accept. Our usage rights guide shows how creators do the math.

Music and labels. Under the US and rest-of-world terms, project videos can only use tracks from TikTok's Commercial Music Library.18 Paid ads that run through TikTok One are labeled automatically. For a brand deal you arrange yourself, turning on the content disclosure setting is your job,19 and the disclosure guide covers the legal side.

Deleting it later. In Branded Buzz, taking your video down within 30 days can cost you the rewards.8 Under the EEA, Swiss, UK and Israeli terms, once the brand's usage period has started, the video stays available to the brand even if you leave the project.17

How the money moves

For a flat-fee project, the price is settled with the brand: you put a starting rate on your profile, the brand sends an offer, and you accept it or negotiate.2 Not every flat fee is open to negotiation, though; the project details say which, and projects that combine a flat fee with revenue share are non-negotiable.20 Treat your profile rate as your opening bid, and price by deliverable. A branded post lives on the brand's account, so your follower count does little for its value, and UGC pricing is the closer guide. A sponsored post goes out to your followers, so price it on your typical views. Either way, have a counter ready: here's what to say when a brand pushes back.

When the price is agreed inside TikTok One, the brand pays first. TikTok collects and holds the money before you start filming, then pays it out after the brand approves the video and it's published.16 Your payment comes from TikTok, not the brand. Under the US and rest-of-world terms, you look solely to TikTok for payment.18 In the EEA, Switzerland, the UK and Israel, payouts made through the platform go via Stripe, and the terms bar you from invoicing the brand directly.17

Three rules cover what happens when a project goes sideways:21

  • The brand goes quiet. If a brand chose to review your video manually and never approves or rejects it, it counts as approved after 14 days.
  • The project gets cancelled. If TikTok cancels after an order is agreed but before you submit, you get at least 10% of the fee. Cancelled after you submit, at least 50%. Cancelled after the brand approved your video, the full amount.
  • You pull out or miss the deadline. Nothing is owed if you haven't submitted.

Questions or disputes about a cancellation go through TikTok's support channels or tiktokone@bytedance.com. Invite-link projects sit outside the online checkout because their pricing and payment happen offline.2 Get the terms in writing before you film.

Performance projects pay differently. In Branded Buzz, only your single best-performing video counts. Campaigns usually run for 14 days and pay out from a cash pool shared on eligible views, and some add base pay for creators with 50,000+ followers or a bonus of up to $1,500 for top videos. The mix varies by campaign, so read the brief.8 In the Spark Opportunity Program, money arrives only when a brand puts ad spend behind your post.12 Revenue share follows the same logic. TikTok sets it from your video's performance and the advertiser's spend on in-feed ads,20 so that part of your pay builds only once the brand runs the video as an ad. Earned money can also sit on the Rewards Center's Pending page for a while, because TikTok's products pay out on different schedules.22

Plan for tax, too. TikTok's payments are inclusive of sales tax or VAT, TikTok may have to withhold tax in some cases,18 and the payment setup asks for tax information where your country requires it.13

Does TikTok pay $1,000 per million views?

Not as a set rate, and not through Creator Marketplace. That question is about the Creator Rewards Program, which pays for views on your own videos. TikTok's help page says rewards are worked out from qualified views and a rate per 1,000 of them, which it calls RPM, plus an additional reward for content that's well crafted and engaging.9 Any per-million figure you've seen comes from someone's own results or an estimate. TikTok doesn't publish a rate.

The bar is also higher: 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and videos at least a minute long. Each video starts earning only after 1,000 qualified For You views, and views shorter than 5 seconds, paid views and promoted views don't count. And the two programs don't pay twice for the same video, because Creator Rewards excludes ads, paid promotions and sponsored content.9 A video you make for a brand project earns only what the project pays.

Under 1,000 followers for now

Sign up anyway. Your profile, rates and payment details will be ready the day you cross 1,000. If you're in the UK, TikTok Shop lets you promote its products from 500 followers.11

Until then, look for branded-post work outside TikTok One, where its follower floor doesn't apply. The brand buys the video and puts it on its own account or in its ads, so what it weighs is your footage. That's the TikTok work that needs no followers. Modliflex is built around that kind of order: a brand picks a creator, sends a brief, and pays the rate the creator set.

When you do pass 1,000, open the app before you trust any number on a web page. TikTok updates these pages, and the app is what actually lets you in.
